frequently axed questions
What does this cost? There are no costs other than your own lodging, eating and drinking costs. This isn’t an ‘event’ is an anti-event. It’s barely planned. It’s just a town open house. Come one, come all. There’s no registration or anything like that.
What is the group like? The key demographic is laid-back/easy-going. We’re in the mountains away from civilization. No drama, pussies or bitches. For lack of a better word, bros.
That’s nice, but I’m gay and shallow, I meant, what are their stats? Average age is 23-33 -younger and older too. The crowd comes 50% from Boston, 25% from other parts of the US and 25% from Canada. French Canadians are uncut and mostly insane. Since we’re doing outdoors shit, the party attracts more of an outdoorsy/jock crowd than your typical gay soiree. And the lack of oxygen at this elevation has an effect akin to a low-grade aphrodisiac.
How do I get there? Drive. I can help find you a ride from Boston, New York, Burlington VT or Montreal, so if you can get to one of those cities, you’re all set.
Is this a circuit party? I’m not sure what that is. Our friends aren’t druggies, they’re boozers and stoners. I’ve never been to a circuit party but I’d imagine this is the very opposite of something you’d find in Miami or Provincetown. That being said, it’s a very WILD and FUN time. You choose your own adventure.
Is this a crazy sex party? No, it’s a ski trip you dumb slut. Go guzzle your PReP and tell yourself it’s all going to be ok as you take antibiotics for the 8th time this year. Ahem. But it is a party of dozens of drunk guys up in the mountains for a few days. So yeah, hook-ups everywhere –weeee, penises! But sex party? No, sorry. But again, you do get to choose your own adventure so go for it if that’s your thing.
Will I die? We’ve thrown this party twice a year for 14 years and very, very few guests have died.
Is it true there are no cell phones in town?
NO! For the first Snowfest ever, Montgomery has coverage for AT&T and T-Mobile. Sorry Verizon. There is wifi in the lodges and you can drive a few minutes out of town to catch a signal, but prepare to unplug. It feels amazing.
Will I be gay-bashed in a small mountain town in the middle of nowhere? Sadly, probably not. Just be cool. It’s a great little town, but it’s definitely not ptown–so behave and act like a man, man.
